Messi vs Ronaldo
The game will pit Ronaldo against his greatest foe, Lionel Messi. The two legends have once again enjoyed fantastic seasons, combining to score 78 goals this season, but it’s Messi who looks set to come out on top.
Not only did he pip Ronaldo to the 2015 Ballon d’Or, but his team are on course to repeat last season’s treble success.
As well as their league advantage, Luis Enrique’s team are through to the final of the Copa del Rey and into the Champions League quarter-finals. It’ll be tough, but would you be surprised if Barcelona were victorious in all three competitions?
It will be the first time this season that ‘MSN’ and ‘BBC’, the acronym for Barcelona and Real Madrid’s lethal strike forces, start against each other this season.
Messi started Barca’s 4-0 win over Madrid in November on the bench as he recovered from knee ligament damage.
Gareth Bale praised MSN
But football fans won’t be robbed of the chance to see Europe’s best attacking trios in action on Saturday.
Gareth Bale compared Madrid’s three - consisting of himself, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo - to the world-class talents of Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar ahead of the game.
On his bond with Benzema and Ronaldo, the Welshman said: “We have a great relationship on the pitch, we play very well together and it's not for us to judge if we are the best,” per Sport.
The Welshman was then asked for his thoughts on MSN, scorers of 107 goals combined this term.
“They are obviously great players, world-class players and they are doing very well at the moment,” he replied. “We know all about them and they know all about us.
“Come Saturday it will be a great game, I'm sure it will be one for everybody to enjoy and we'll try to make it as exciting as we can."
