Dominant Barca

But this season, it’s slightly different.

Barcelona are dominating the league and are 11 points clear of Madrid with just eight matches remaining.

Having only dropped 14 points in their previous 30 games, Barcelona know that if they avoid defeat Zinedine Zidane’s side will find it nigh on impossible to catch them.

Not only will they be looking to kill off their rival’s faint title hopes, Barcelona will also be hoping to complete a league double over Madrid after they humiliated them 4-0 at the Bernabeu in November.

But it’s not just this season that Barca have earned the bragging rights over Real Madrid. Luis Enrique’s side completed a historic treble last campaign and are looking to do the same again this time round.

Modric to Barca

Such is Barcelona’s dominance that one of their former stars, Deco, believes that there is only one Madrid player would get into Enrique’s team.

"I would sign Modric for Barcelona," Deco told Diario Ara, per Goal.com.

"His style of play would be a perfect fit for Barcelona. He is a player like Xavi and Iniesta, their style of play is similar.”

Real Madrid CF v Club Atletico de Madrid - La Liga

Modric is in his fourth season in the Spanish capital following his £30 million move from Tottenham in 2012.

The 30-year-old has only missed three league matches this campaign as he continues to be a lynchpin in the Madrid side.

However, despite being at the club for almost four years, Modric is still yet to win the league title for the Spanish giants - with Barcelona set to win three La Ligas and Atletico Madrid one since he joined.

No space for 'BBC'

Much of Barcelona’s recent success is down to the so-called ‘MSN’ consisting of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar. The trio have scored an incredible 107 goals this season compared Real Madrid’s ‘BBC’ - Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo - who have managed ‘just’ 80.

Therefore, Deco doesn't believe that any of the three would be good additions for Barcelona.

"There would be no room for Madrid's attackers at Barca,” he added.

Deco has plenty of experience of playing in Clasico’s having spent four seasons at Barcelona.

The former Portuguese midfielder won two La Liga titles and the 2006 Champions League during his time in Catalonia.
