A lot of hot-headed footballers mellow out as they get older, but Gennaro Gattuso hasn’t lost any of his edge since hanging up his boots.
The 38-year-old, who retired three years ago, currently coaches Italian third division side Pisa and is still capable of blowing his top - as this latest video proves.
Pisa were involved in a top-of-the-table clash with SPAL at the weekend when, towards the end of the game, Gattuso became increasingly animated and ended up giving his assistant an unnecessary slap in the face. (Scroll down this page to watch the video).

When the final whistle went, Pisa’s assistant could have been forgiven if he expected a quiet apology from the boss.
That was the last thing on Gattuso’s mind. He barely acknowledged his assistant before heading over to his coaching staff and celebrating with them instead. It was all a little bit odd.

Pisa win crucial top-of-the-table clash
Luca Mora handed SPAL the lead with a goal five minutes before half-time, but Pisa came out of the blocks flying in the second half and had taken the lead by he hour-mark courtesy of goals from Diego Peralta and Daniele Mannini.
Following that important win, Pisa now find themselves second in the Lega Pro table with five matches remaining.
In order to secure promotion to Serie B, however, Pisa must leapfrog SPAL into pole position.
Only the team in first place at the end of the season is promoted; the clubs in second and third compete in a Promotion Play-off match.
Maybe the assistant should put Gattuso in a bin...
Perhaps Gattuso’s assistant should follow in the footsteps of Zlatan Ibrahimovic by putting the former AC Milan midfielder into a bin.
PSG defender Thiago Silva revealed that Zlatan once took action in the dressing room after being teased by the former midfielder in training.
"The protagonist of this story is Zlatan Ibrahimovic," Silva told Sky Deutschland, per Goal.com. "One day, during a training session, Gattuso spent all morning teasing Zlatan. He was provoking him, and Zlatan took it without apparently saying anything. In fact, his revenge would come soon after.”
Silva continued: ”Rino [Gattuso] and Zlatan met again in the dressing room after training, and Ibra lifted the entire weight of his team-mate, flipped him over and threw him in the bin!
"It was crazy, we all started laughing thinking about Gattuso's face. I swear, I couldn't stop laughing for a week!"
