WWE loves to bring back its former stars for WrestleMania. At this year's event, along with the Hall of Fame inductees like Sting and The Godfather, the company brought back Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mick Foley, Shawn Michaels, and The Rock.
However, they weren't the only names speculated to appear on The Showcase of The Immortals. Batista was asked to appear on the show as well.
The Animal last appeared on WWE programming back in June 2014. He was part of the WrestleMania XXX programming for that year in the main event against Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship after he won the Royal Rumble.

The role he was offered this time around by Vince McMahon wasn't in a match, but to be part of the legends segment with Steve Austin, Mick Foley, and Shawn Michaels, according to NoDQ. They also noted that despite the speculation, he was never offered to be a special referee in the match between Triple H and Roman Reigns.
The former six-time WWE champion turned down the segment of when Austin, Michaels, and Foley came down to the ring to confront the League of Nations after they had defeated The New Day, and King Barrett said that no three-man team in history would stand a chance against “The Lads”.
HBK, Stone Cold, and Foley had other ideas, came down to the ring and they removed all the members of the League of Nations from the ring with all their finishers, causing the crowd to go wild. They then celebrated with The New Day in the ring, before Xavier Woods caught a Stone Cold Stunner.
Having Batista in this situation would have been a good sight to see as well as it would bring a nostalgia factor for seeing one of the members of the League of Nations on the end of a Batista Bomb.
With The Animal being involved with so many films recently - Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and The Blade Runner 2 - it's difficult to see where he would be able to find the time to return to the WWE for a one-off appearance, never mind a proper feud.
Until his schedule gets lighter, we probably won't be seeing him in the WWE anytime soon. Although his return, whenever that is, would likely receive the same response as HBK, Stone Cold, and Foley did when they appeared at WrestleMania 32.
