The WWE have always had a desire to book A-list celebrities and inject them into a storyline. From Mr T at the first WrestleMania and even Donald Trump at one point, WWE still tries to appeal to the socialites of pop culture to generate more ratings.
Stephen Amell is the star of the hit CW show, Arrow, and is the latest big name to get involved in the wrestling ring.
Amell is a fan of the WWE and was utilised in a feud with Stardust in the lead up to SummerSlam last year and wrestled an impressive enough tag team match at the event.

He was also front and centre at this year’s WrestleMania, making an appearance in the crowd.
WWE also smartly placed him behind the commentary table, so that every time WWE cut to the commentators at the event you could see Amell in the background.

So what do WWE do with him now?
One-on-One Match with Stardust
In saying Amell was impressive in his in-ring debut doesn’t mean he is capable of wrestling a quality one-on-one match with anyone.
WWE fans shouldn’t expect a 10-15minute match from him with anyone, but a quick five-minute match where he could do a few nice things would be exciting enough.
The obvious thing is booking him in a match with Stardust.
Stardust quest, we think, is still going on to find a ‘real hero’. WWE’s booking of Stardust's, aka Cody Rhodes, character has been utterly atrocious, but maybe a feud and match with Amell again might get him back on track.
Both Stardust and Amell are pretty good at using social media, so they could get some good traction by using that as there platform for the feud. An idea might be having Stardust crash the set of Arrow and even start wearing the famous green hood as he enters the ring.
Also, the WWE could look at bringing back the short-lived stable of the Cosmic Wasteland. Wade Barrett is reportedly on the way out of the WWE, so maybe The Ascension, who are doing nothing at the moment, could act as the goons for Stardust. Amell could then look at getting the assistance from a new tag team like The Vaudevillians to help even the playing field.
Ultimately in this booking scenario, Amell would probably come out the victor in the rivalry. However, it might at least create a credible heel faction in the ‘Cosmic Wasteland’ and help a team like The Vaudevillians not fade into the background like the Ascension has.
Pair him with a Top Babyface
On Twitter, Amell posted photos with divas Nikki Bella and fellow Canadian Renee Young. Young is an interesting one, because her involvement in WWE has been completely professional since joining company, so maybe it’s time to give her a storyline.
Young is joining the cast of Total Divas next season and it’ll be interesting to get a look into her life as a WWE personal, but also her relationship with Dean Ambrose. Definitely on-screen the two would be the definition of WWE’s odd couple and maybe it’s time to start seeing the two interact on-screen.
Ambrose lost at WrestleMania and is kind of in the wilderness at the moment. He is the most over babyface in the WWE but hasn’t been rewarded with the success and accolades during his WWE run so far.
What WWE could do leading up to say SummerSlam is have a heel faction like The League of Nations, really bad mouth and discredit Renee Young in their backstage interviews. A couple of spots where they make Renee cry could make them look heartless and hateable.
So who steps up for Renee… a superhero of course.
Stephen Amell could be looking out for his friend in Renee and challenge the Lads to a match at SummerSlam. They would, of course, accept and as they want to put the Green Arrow in his place like Renee, only for Amell to reveal his partner to be Renee’s real life boyfriend Dean Ambrose.
Ambrose psychotic character is also to extent believable enough to actually believe the Green Arrow exists, but also at the same time, Ambrose is funny enough to make the best out of this light-hearted situation.
Again, we get Amell involved in a tag team match where he doesn’t have to wrestle a lot, but he’s involved in a storyline where he looks like a real life superhero and overall good guy.
An IC title match with The Miz
This one may come across as completely strange as why would WWE want to flirt with not even a part-time superstar and a champion. Also, with the Intercontinental Championship, a title that has been held with some of the greats of this business.
However, in this situation, it may just work.
The Miz won his fifth IC title the night after WrestleMania, thanks to a huge assist from his wife Maryse and with Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn and co looking likely they will move up the card, it looks like the Intercontinental Championship is in a stage of rehabilitation.
The Miz is an excellent candidate to lead this rehabilitation as he and Maryse build towards becoming the power couple of the WWE.
Playing off his roles in movies, The Miz has created a great persona as an arrogant A-lister, determined to be the biggest star in WWE.
WWE creative could sell that Stephen Amell would be appearing on an episode of RAW similar to how they did to the lead up of SummerSlam 2015. The Miz could wrestle a match where he loses because he is too distracted by Amell’s presence. Backstage, friend Renee Young could be interviewing Amell, when The Miz attacks.
This then leads up to Amell eventually challenging The Miz to a match for the belt. Amell could play off being a wrestling fan his whole life who would like to do nothing more than go down in history like his heroes, Shawn Michaels and Razor Ramon, as Intercontinental Champion. The Miz is determined to be the biggest star in WWE, so squashing The Green Arrow just makes sense.
In their title match, Amell can surprise The Miz with some good and exciting offence, only to be beaten, maybe off a distraction from Maryse. A match of this magnitude is likely to take place at SummerSlam.
The night after, Amell could come out one more time to get The Miz to put his belt on the line that night, but not against him. He could bring out old friend, Neville, who would be just returning from injury, and with a Red Arrow, Neville becomes the newest Intercontinental Champion.
In this situation, you have The Miz looking good as a mid-card champion, you have created a star in Neville in him shockingly returning and winning the belt, and finally you have Amell being used in an effective way that is actually meaningful compared to his last run. He puts Neville over a top mid-card babyface and give WWE fans their money’s worth from a cameo celebrity appearance.
