Chyna was once a huge name in professional wrestling for women..

Controversial ex-WWE wrestler distances herself from the company even further

Published 12 Comments

When it comes to female wrestlers who have a connection with WWE, there is perhaps no one more controversial than Chyna.

The 45-year old rose to fame within the professional wrestling industry throughout the nineties and took part in her final match under the WWF in 2001. During her time as a WWF employee, Chyna proved her worth not only as an individual but also played a pivotal role in what it meant to be a woman on a male-dominated roster.

Despite her unquestionable importance with regard to women's wrestling, Chyna is not often a name which is mentioned amongst those in charge of WWE today.

This is not least because of the controversial way Chyna parted ways with the industry some 15 years ago, with Chyna's former real-life boyfriend, Triple H, rumoured to have had an affair with his now wife and current Chief Brand Office of WWE, Stephanie McMahon.

Unfair decision

Since her separation from the company, Chyna's association with the biggest business in professional wrestling has been understandably minimal.

Whenever the 45-year-old's name is mentioned, it is more often than not in relation to something which is detrimental to her.

This was the case when in 2015, Triple H spoke of how he did not feel it would be suitable for Chyna to be inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame, given the work choices she made outside of professional wrestling.

The Game's words regarding this topic triggered much uproar from the members of the WWE Universe, as there are several former wrestlers who have been inducted into the prestigious club, despite making questionable life choices themselves.

Let down

Whilst Chyna certainly had the majority of fans on her side following this incident however, she has been involved in a recent occurrence which disappointed many professional wrestling fans.

As reported by WrestlingNews.Co, Chyna was scheduled to appear at WrestleCon on Friday and Saturday of last week but did not appear at the event.

Steelcage Signings, who Chyna was supposed to be there on behalf of, released a statement which revealed that she missed her flight, demanded the company paid for a new ticket, then checked in but did not get on the relevant plane.

This behaviour is something which fans and anyone associated with professional wrestling, would simply not stand for.

Adult Video News Awards At The Hard Rock - Arrivals

Several followers of professional wrestling who were attending the event had paid for tickets to meet with the former WWF star and were no doubt outraged at her not showing up.

It is unquestionable that were a WWE star of today to do something like this, they would be punished severely and immediately.

With this in mind, this incident may well indicate that Chyna is not as deserving of a place in the WWE Hall Of Fame at this stage in time, as other former wrestlers are.

Ultimately, Chyna's career will be remembered for a long time to come by several generations of fans and occurrences like these should not hinder what she achieved in the ring.
