It's hard not to feel sorry for Paige, she was the first woman from NXT who made an impact on the main roster and she is widely considered to have been the one who brought in the new era of women's wrestling.
Whilst much of 2014 and a selective part of 2015 saw Paige and AJ Lee dominating the Women's Division, it seems that Paige has now been cut out of the picture as the division she has spearheaded finally turns a corner.
WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
The new Women's Championship is a dawning of a new era in WWE and it looks set to see the main roster women finally regain the credibility that the division once saw under the leadership of the likes of Trish Stratus, Lita, Gail Kim and Molly Holly.

Many fans were disappointed that Charlotte retained her championship at WrestleMania when Sasha Banks is currently the hot favorite with the WWE Universe.
Now it seems the headline feud for the Women heading into Payback could be between Charlotte and Natalya after WWE opted for the rematch from NXT's Arrival event back in 2014.

WHAT ROLE WILL PAIGE PLAY?
With Sasha and Becky Lynch not currently a part of the Women's Championship picture and Brie Bella announcing her retirement, the thought would be that Paige could be set to play the heel in a second Women's match at Payback.
WWE have divided their women's division into Divas and Women's wrestlers and unfortunately for Paige, it seems she has been put in the Total Divas group because she is one of the main cast members on the show.
Right now, WWE only sees Natalya, Sasha, Becky and Charlotte as the women who they feel are the real "wrestlers" of the division, whilst the likes of Lana, Paige, Summer Rae, Naomi, Tamina Snuka, Alicia Fox, Eva Marie and Emma have all been put in the Divas group, perhaps unfairly since Emma has been making an impact down on NXT and if WWE didn't have anything for her on the main roster then they could have left her where she was.
It is unfair that Paige isn't been included in the Women's Championship picture going forward, and it has been weeks since she has been afforded a one-on-one match on Raw as well.
While the fact that she took over the Women's Division for more than a year following her debut could have played a factor in this decision, Paige deserves a lot of the accolades for the success of the division and the fact that going forward these women are no longer Divas, they are female wrestlers.
