Bayern Munich star Arturo Vidal has insisted that he would like to play alongside Arsenal playmaker Alexis Sanchez at club level.
Vidal and Sanchez have played alongside each other for the best part of a decade for the Chile national team. Up until now, however, the two players, who have both enjoyed fine careers so far, haven't featured on the club scene together.
As it stands, Vidal is plying his trade at German outfit Bayern, while Sanchez is starring in north London at Arsenal. And it appears that Vidal, formerly of Italian outfit Juventus, would like to see Sanchez join him in the Bundesliga.
“We’ve played together since the Under-20 international team, so it would be nice to play with him,” he said, as per Goal.com.
It's far from certain as to whether Bayern will make a move for Sanchez, of course, but Bayern fans may well start dreaming of a move that certainly captures the imagination.
Arsenal fans, on the other hand, will be desperate for Sanchez to stay at the Emirates. It has been well documented that the Chilean ace has been slightly below-par this season, but there's no reason why he won't be able to get back to his best sooner rather than later.
In truth, injury has taken its toll on Sanchez, who was the club's leading player this time last year. If Sanchez can get back to full fitness, then, alongside German playmaker Mesut Ozil, should help deliver a title charge in the 2016/17 campaign.
This season has been a disappointing one for various reasons, but Sanchez and co. mustn't rest on their laurels.
Unlike Sanchez, Vidal and Bayern still have everything to play for this season. The Bavarians are on course to claim yet another Bundesliga title, while they're also set to face Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-final.
Understandably, outgoing coach Pep Guardiola will be hoping to bow out on a high ahead of his move to Manchester City.
And, according to Vidal, Bayern are focused on delivering their third league title in consecutive years.
Vidal continued by saying: “The team is winning and is going really well. The Bundesliga is our top priority and we’ll be focused on Saturday to secure the title. But the triple is what we want and is our goal."
