It is looking increasingly likely now that Newcastle United are to be relegated from the Barclays Premier League this season.
If this is to happen, then which members of the Newcastle squad, that Charlie Nicholas described as "possibly the worst team I've ever seen in the Premier League", will decide to stay?
The last time Newcastle were relegated to the Championship, they faced a mass exodus, as players such as Michael Owen, Damien Duff and Shay Given all left St James' Park for Premier League clubs. Will it be the same this time, or will the potential presence of Rafael Benitez influence the decision of the squad?

Newcastle have a team that is full to the brim of international players and experienced Premier League stars, so why would any of them want to play in the Championship?
It is all going to depend on whether or not Rafael Benitez sticks to his word and stays on Tyneside next season, if that happens then he will undoubtedly influence a lot of players to stick around. If Rafa decides to move on to something new, then you can expect the Newcastle squad to leave thick and fast.

There was a story going around social media websites last week that if Newcastle are relegated, they will be forced to pay Jonjo Shelvey £80,000 per week in the second tier of the English game.
This is an outrageous amount of money to be paying a Championship player, but it looks like they might have to do just that with the Chronicle claiming that the midfielder is adamant on staying with the Magpies.
There have already been links to suggest that players such as Andros Townsend and Daryl Janmaat could be on their way out of the club which would be a real blow for Benitez's team.
Townsend has been a massive hit on Tyneside since arriving in January, scoring three goals in eight appearances for the club, while Daryl Janmaat is the only out and out right back at the club, so to lose him would be simply foolish by the club.
All in all, who stays and who goes depends on the management at St James' Park next season. If Rafael Benitez is at Newcastle United next term then they can have hope that their big hitters will stick around, if he isn't then there could be a huge exodus from St James' Park.
