Cristiano Ronaldo is such a good footballer that Zinedine Zidane couldn’t help but swear when describing the Real Madrid star.
Zidane expressed his disappointment after Ronaldo suffered an injury late on in Madrid’s 3-0 win over Villarreal, wishing the three-time Ballon d’Or winner would accept being rested.
But it didn’t take long for that disappointment to turn to admiration. Now, the Portuguese star is “untouchable” in Zidane’s eyes.

It was confirmed on Friday that Ronaldo will miss Madrid’s game against Rayo Vallecano owing to a muscle injury he sustained on Wednesday.
Zidane wasn’t to know that Ronaldo would be injured six days before the first leg of Madrid’s Champions League clash against Manchester City but he would certainly rather a 100 per cent healthy Ronaldo.

The winger has asked to play every single minute and Zidane thinks he deserves to. Having scored 47 goals in all competitions, you can see Ronaldo’s point.
Zidane: Cristiano is f****** great
“Cristiano Ronaldo is untouchable because he has earned it,” Zidane admitted ahead of the weekend game against Vallecano, per Sport. “Cristiano is untouchable because of what his numbers demonstrate. He deserves to be untouchable. He rests when he doesn't play, but when he plays, he does f****** great.
“In one way, it's a problem that he always wants to play, but on the other hand, it's good that someone like him is always ready to go out on the pitch.”
Ronaldo's injury wasn't caused by exhaustion
Ronaldo walked out of Madrid’s win over Villarreal after attempting an overhead kick in the closing minutes.
It was an injury that certainly cannot be linked to tiredness - but perhaps could have been prevented had Ronaldo been willing to be taken off.
"I don't see Cristiano exhausted, the injury was an anecdote and is not a problem to do with always wanting to play," Zidane continued.
“Cristiano is no different to any other player and for that reason he always wants to play. He doesn't have to rest because he is fine. He always wants to play and his commitment is something I value and respect."
Although the injury appears minor, Los Blancos’ fans might be concerned after hearing that Zidane wouldn’t risk playing Ronaldo if Madrid played in the Champions League final tomorrow.
“I don't think so,” Zidane quipped, “because it would be too much of a risk."
