Jose Mourinho has finally put pen to paper on a deal that will see him take over the reins at Manchester United, according to the latest reports from Portugal.
Newspaper Jornal de Noticias have a front-page spread today leading with the claim that Mourinho has decided to pledge his future to the Red Devils, though no details of any contractual agreement can be found online.

If true - and yes, it’s a big if - then it will end months of speculation suggesting that the Special One is bound to replace Louis van Gaal at the end of the current campaign.
The report in Jornal de Noticias - kindly translated by Sport Witness - says that Mourinho has been watching United in an attempt to gauge their overall squad strength. Him signing would imply that he’s happy with what he could potentially have to work with on the whole.
Indeed, though caution would be advised when it comes to taking the claim as gospel, it will hardly be a surprise if Van Gaal does leave his post this summer, a year before his contract expires.
The front page in question:
Van Gaal out, Mourinho in?
The Dutchman’s squad has stumbled unconvincingly through this season - a very strong finish and a little bit of luck will be required if United are to secure Champions League football.
As a result, the general consensus is that Van Gaal has had enough time to work his magic at Old Trafford and should therefore be replaced by someone with equal amounts of star power. Mourinho certainly has that in abundance, but is he too combustible to create harmony in Manchester?
