Gareth Bale stepped up in the absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, scoring two goals as Real Madrid came from 2-0 down to beat Rayo Vallecano 3-2.

Zinedine Zidane’s side found themselves 2-0 down thanks to goals from Adri Embarba and Miku, but Bale’s brace either side of a Lucas Vazquez header on the 52nd minute earned a crucial three points for the Spanish giants.

The focus then switches back to La Liga next weekend, when Zidane’s men play Real Sociedad at Anoeta.
