Manchester United fans were buzzing after Anthony Martial fired the Red Devils into the FA Cup final.
While Chris Smalling was sharing the jubilant celebrations in the aftermath of Martial's late strike on his Facebook page, midfielder Michael Carrick was posting out a message to his followers on Twitter.
He wrote: "What a feeling....Amazing scenes" alongside an image of Manchester United's celebrations, and as you'd expect it garnered a positive reaction.
That was until one user came along; @AananHaque decided it was a good time to rain on the parade.
While his fellow football fans celebrated, he responded to Carrick's message thusly: "For all your qualities, you still move like a 70 year old man with arthritis."
Luckily enough, the former Tottenham and West Ham midfielder has been around the block a few times and knew the best way to deal with the troll was with humour. Cue the drum roll please:
Deep. Burn. Given that Carrick has only sent 661 tweets since he joined Twitter in 2012, it's fair to say he's not a man of many words, so when he does respond it carries plenty of weight.
Carrick and his fellow team-mates were always going to have the last laugh regardless after their 2-1 win against the Toffees, which keeps them on track for their first FA Cup win since 2004.
The Red Devils are also pushing hard for a top four finish, which could be enough to keep boss Louis van Gaal in the job for next season.
They're currently lagging behind Arsenal, who are in action against Sunderland today, and Manchester City, who beat Stoke yesterday.
