Mamadou Sakho was dropped from Brendan Rodgers' Liverpool team at the start of the season for having weight problems, reports the Mirror.
The unpredictable defender is set to face a UEFA drugs charge after there were findings of a fat-burning product in his body following Liverpool's Europa League clash against Manchester United last month.
It appears, then, that the France international has been taking the substance to build lean muscle and look after his weight.

Ultimately, with the investigation ongoing, Sakho has been ruled out of the Liverpool team and had to watch on from the sidelines as his side secured a 2-2 draw against lowly Newcastle United on Saturday.
Interestingly, the Mirror have now reported on the fact that Sakho was dropped from the Liverpool team under Rodgers' regime.

In fact, the centre-back, who has played a prominent role on Merseyside recently, failed to make the Liverpool squad at the beginning of the campaign and then had to watch on from the bench for another three games.
Back in September, Rodgers, who has since been replaced by Jurgen Klopp at the helm, stated: “The thing with Mama has been about making sure he is at a peak level of fitness to play games.
"That was always something of a concern.”
The future of Sakho, then, appears to be unclear at this stage. The same report goes on to claim that Liverpool will request the B sample of his drugs test to be checked by Tuesday, which could lead the club to accept the player's charge.
It's certainly a nightmare period for Sakho, who had been in fine form for his side. With the Europa League semi-finals and European Championships on the horizon, the timing of the investigation couldn't come at a worst possible moment for Sakho, who may well be set for a lengthy suspension.
There's a long way to go in this saga, of course, but things aren't looking too good for the Reds defender.
Without Sakho, Klopp's side will still be hoping to climb the Premier League table, while their focus, understandably, will be on their Europa League run-in.
The Reds are set for a two-legged tie against Spanish outfit Villarreal and will believe that they can win the competition after eliminating Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund.
