Following news that Cristiano Ronaldo had failed a late fitness test and would be unable to play in Real Madrid’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Manchester City, the Portuguese superstar took a seat in the away dugout and sat there looking at his phone with his expensive headphones on.
It turns out that CR7 was, in fact, watching a video of himself on his phone.
Ronaldo, who was adjusting his headphones at the time, briefly flipped his mobile towards an eagle-eyed cameraman who took a snap of the Portuguese superstar’s display. (Scroll down this page to see the photo).

The 31-year-old was on Instagram watching the video of himself giving the thumbs down to the Real Madrid supporters before kick-off.
The video was shared across social media prior to the match, which ended 0-0, and it just goes to show that Cristiano is aware of what’s being written and posted about him online.

Ronaldo would have played if it was the final
Ronaldo told his former Manchester United teammate Owen Hargreaves, who was working on the night for BT Sport, that he would have played last night if it was the Champions League final.
“I think he was quite upset at the fact he wasn’t able to play,” Hargreaves revealed. “He said it was just a muscle problem but if it was a final, he probably would have played. But there’s just no risk in the terms of the games coming up he didn’t want to risk it.”
Asked if he will be back for Real Madrid’s next game, Hargreaves responded: “I don’t think there’s any doubt about that. it’s just a minor knock.”
Zidane hopes Ronaldo will be fit next week
Ronaldo is expected to be fit for next week’s second leg at the Bernabeu, although Real Madrid head coach Zinedine Zidane admitted after Tuesday night’s match that nothing is certain at this stage.
"We hope that they can both be fit for the second leg, that's the idea," the Frenchman was quoted as saying by Sky Sports "But we can't say right now. We have to see. We have to take it day by day and see how they are.
"Cristiano felt something after that last training session. That's why he didn't play. Karim, it was a little bit different. But at the end of the day, little by little, he felt a little bit worse in himself. We don't want to gamble with his fitness. We know how important both players are for us."
