The Irishman acts as the perfect midfield anchor, allowing the more creative types of Xherdan Shaqiri, Bojan and Ibrahim Afellay to strut their stuff.

Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea City)

The Icelandic international has fallen somewhat off the radar this season but he has been a key man for the Welsh side.

Taking on the role of set pieces, he has scored a fantastic 11 goals in 31 games, while also contributing three assists.

Christian Fuchs (Leicester City)

Leicester City v A.F.C. Bournemouth - Premier League

The coverage of Leicester has been dominated by the scoring spree of Jamie Vardy, and the stunning season of PFA Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez, but their defence has been equally as impressive.

Their German left back Fuchs has helped the side keep 15 clean sheets in his 27 games, as well as contributing a decent tally of four assists.

James Milner (Liverpool)

The ex-Manchester City winger has enjoyed a career renaissance at Liverpool, where he has played a key role in their midfield.

Liverpool v Newcastle United - Premier League

His goal tally of five is solid but it is his assists record that shows what an excellent team player he is, with 11 in 27 games.

Jesus Navas (Manchester City)

With City suffering several injuries to the likes of David Silva and Yaya Toure this season, they have needed players to step up and perform.

Navas has done just that, providing a rather impressive tally of nine assists from 22 games.
