Safe to say that Manchester United have enjoyed mixed fortunes with their strikers this season.
Captain Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial have failed to consistently deliver upfront whilst 18-year-old Marcus Rashford has burst onto the scene following a brace on his debut against FC Midtjylland.
What’s clear is the Red Devils need reinforcements going forward if they’re to re-establish themselves as Premier League title contenders, regardless of how well Rashford has played.

Much like how Manchester City and Chelsea have won the title in recent years with Sergio Aguero and Diego Costa at their disposal respectively, a world-class striker is needed at Old Trafford if they’re to build upon their current haul of 20 league titles.
And it seems they’re aware of this fact. According to the Daily Mail, the club have lodged official interest in signing Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer.

The Gabon international has been in stunning form this season, scoring 34 goals in 41 games and helping his side keep pace with league leaders Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.
His emergence as a world-class striker has seen interest increase considerably over the past year, with La Liga giants Real Madrid also monitoring his situation at the Westfalenstadion.
An air of doubt currently surrounds Dortmund with a number of their stars being linked with moves away at the end of the season.
Reports recently suggested centre-back Mats Hummels has opted to join Bayern Munich whilst Ilkay Gundogan is a target of Manchester City’s.
As a result, United want to take advantage of such uncertainty by luring Aubameyang to Old Trafford - but he’ll set them back an eye-watering £70 million.
The 26-year-old is yet to comment on rumours linking him with a move to Manchester, but he’s previously expressed an interest in joining Zinedine Zidane in the Spanish capital.
“Real Madrid? There is no agreement but I promised my grandfather I would play there one day,” he said.
“Why wouldn’t I want to discover new things? As I’ve said several times, I’d like to play in Spain and have good weather for once in my life!”
There is also belief that Aubameyang is keen on playing in the Premier League, too.
The Gabonese isn’t the only forward-thinking player United are lining up, with Arsenal outcast Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also a target.
ESPN reports that the Red Devils are prepared to pounce if their London rivals cash in on the youngster, though they face competition from City, Liverpool and West Ham.
