Everton may be underwhelming in the Premier League, with manager Roberto Martinez under increasing pressure, but the future nevertheless looks bright for the Toffees when it comes to their youth academy.
With Ross Barkley already impressing the Goodison Park faithful, Everton fans could soon be cheering on another homegrown talent in the form of winger Kieran Dowell.
On the books at Everton since 2005, the 18-year-old Southport-born winger has been wowing for the Toffees’ under-21 side of late.

Having already grabbed the headlines with a superb turn, run and goal against Manchester City’s under-21 side, Dowell went one better against Leicester City’s under-21 outfit.
Facing off against the worst team in Under-21 Premier Division 1 table, Dowell put in a superb performance, bagging three goals in a hat trick that has him earmarked for the future.
A true blue since the age of seven, Dowell will be hoping to make his mark on the first team next season.
The winger has already made one appearance for Everton, as a substitute, in a Europa League clash with Krasnodar back in December 2014, coming on for Christian Atsu after just 11 minutes following an injury to the Ghanaian.
And while first-team opportunities have been scarce this season, there is hope that things could change over the summer.
Players like Kevin Mirallas have long been linked with a move away from Goodison Park and while the competition for starting wide midfield places will remain fierce, he could at the very least force himself into Martinez’s plans for the first-team squad.
Offering pace, skill and bags of creativity alongside an eye for goal, we could be seeing more from Dowell very soon.
