Lacazette may choose to turn Barcelona down.

Alexandre Lacazette's representatives contacted by Barcelona

Barcelona have contacted Alexandre Lacazette’s representatives over a possible move to the Camp Nou this summer, according to French newspaper L’Equipe.

Barcelona’s MSN attack, consisting of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar has produced 82 La Liga goals this season, but Luis Enrique feels that his strike force lacks depth, making Lacazette, a strong centre-forward capable of playing across the width of the pitch, an ideal signing for the Spanish champions.

Interest in the 24-year-old France international is high, with Barcelona likely to be in pole position for his signature should they meet Lyon’s €30 million valuation.

Lacazette scored 31 goals in 40 games last season but has struggled to maintain this form in 2015/16, quite possibly because he has been distracted by transfer rumours that have persisted throughout the campaign.

The news will come as a blow to Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, who are both looking firepower to their squad this summer ahead of a potential title challenge in 2016/17.

It remains to be seen whether Lyon’s talisman would be interested in a move that would not guarantee him first team football. With the world at his feet, Lacazette may decide that his future lies at a club that can promise to make him their star striker. There is little chance that he will be the preferred option ahead of Neymar, Messi, and Suarez.

The Premier League would be the perfect destination for a player who is used to the rough treatment in France. Lacazette would adapt quickly to the English game and make for an excellent addition at Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool – who utilise a high energy attacking system similar to that of Lyon.

Barcelona are looking forward to a less stressful summer after the transfer ban that disrupted preparations for the 2015/16 season, with recruitment likely to focus on youth, with four of the past five Luis Enrique signings were over the age of 28.
