It was announced during the tapings tonight that Joe will have his first title defense against the former Champion Finn Balor at the upcoming NXT Takeover.
Joe lost to Balor at NXT Takeover Dallas two nights before WrestleMania 32 and it seemed like that may have been his final chance at the title.
That proved to be anything but the case and now the two will face off at the Takeover special on June eighth.
Whilst the NXT Championship being on the line is a big enough draw for NXT fans, it looks like the match is set to have a special stipulation.
Early rumours are claiming that it could be a steel cage match that will house the two biggest names in NXT.
A steel cage match between Balor and Joe would certainly be a fitting main event for a Takeover special, and it could be a fitting end to Balor's NXT career.
ON THE MOVE
Following the loss of his NXT Championship, everyone had been wondering when Balor may possibly make the move to the main roster.
With Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson debuting on the main roster, a lot of people had expected Balor to arrive as their leader of a newly formed Bullet Club.
However Balor made an impassioned speech at an NXT live event where he claimed that he wouldn't be leaving the brand.
