Despite interim manager Guus Hiddink turning a corner in the Blues’ season, it has been lackluster to say the least and with European football out of their reach, a busy summer, regarding transfers, is inevitable.
One arrival already carved in stone is Italian Antonio Conte who will be sat in the Stamford Bridge dug-out for the next three years subject to any changes. His first job will be to make sure Chelsea battle at the peak of the table next season and big-name signings are a must in order to achieve that with Mkhitaryan a considerable option.

The likes of Eden Hazard have failed to step up and deliver this campaign meaning Hiddink’s side have fallen short of fast, fluorescent football, something the Armenian international will undoubtedly deliver.
Running behind defenders, linking up with his striking options and his goalscoring techniques have all been showcased this campaign, earning him constant praise; finally replicating the form he showed at Shakhtar.
Failing to qualify for the Champions League could pose a problem in their attempts to lure the Dortmund star who, if he was to stay, would feature in the competition next season. Becoming a regular in currently one of Europe’s most devastating sides could also prevent him from making the move to London.
Mkhitaryan hasn’t been overly renowned for rustling the net in his first two years in Germany’s top division. However, having bagged three more goals than Chelsea’s deadliest goal scorer Diego Costa this season, he has no doubt turned his attributes around, giving Conte all the more reason why he should splash the cash for him.
After an inspiring season, playing a vital part in Dortmund’s ambitious title challenge, the midfielder will, yet again, be in high demand come the transfer window. This means the Blues will have to be on top of their game if they want to salvage a deal for their target, especially if his heart does lie with a chance to play in Europe’s top competition next year.
It is safe to say that with the Armenian danger-man potentially linking up with the likes of Willian, Oscar and Diego Costa next campaign, Chelsea could see themselves back to where they belong, causing havoc at the higher end of the table.
