Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has talked to Jose Fonte about the possibility of returning to Southampton.
That's according to Fonte, who has admitted that he has asked the midfielder about a move to the St Mary's.
Oxlade-Chamberlain departed Southampton in favour of north London back in 2011 but has endured a tricky period recently. Indeed, he has failed to maintain a regular place in the team and has often found himself on the bench.

With just one goal in 22 Premier League games, the England international has failed to find his best form, so it's not exactly surprising that his future has been the subject of debate.
It's certainly clear that Fonte would like to be reunited with his former teammate this summer.
Fonte speaks out
He told Just Football at the FootiEmoji event in London, as per Goal.com: “I know how good he is. And I am not going to lie: we talked about it [returning to Southampton].
"I asked him, I spoke to him, I am good friends with him. I want the best for him but what can I say? He’s an Arsenal player.
“He’s happy there. He has the quality to be a star player at Arsenal but what I mean is we would love to have him back.
"If we want to put a team out to fight for trophies, to fight in European competitions, why not?”
Oxlade-Chamberlain is currently out on the sidelines through injury and hasn't featured for the Gunners in the Premier League since February 14, but there's every chance that he will complete his return before the end of the campaign.
It's safe to say that the versatile midfielder will be desperate to prove his credentials over the coming weeks.
With the season approaching its climax, all eyes will be on Euro 2016 and it's far from certain as to whether England boss Roy Hodgson will hand Oxlade-Chamberlain a place in his squad. One thing is for sure, he will have to prove his fitness sooner rather than later.
Oxlade-Chamberlain isn't the only Arsenal player who will be hoping to star ahead of this summer's tournament. Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere have both had their problems and will be desperate to make an impact in the final three fixtures.
