Chelsea plotting £24 million summer swoop for Dutch sensation Riechedly Bazoer

An interesting summer awaits Premier League champions Chelsea following an awful defence of their title, also their worst season under Roman Abramovich.

Incoming manager Antonio Conte has earmarked the Blues' midfield as an area for improvement given the current lack of confidence on show in the centre of the park.

It comes as no surprise, then, that they're targeting a summer move for Ajax and Netherlands sensation Riechedly Bazoer, according to The Sun.

An overhaul of Chelsea's squad appears imminent this summer, with Nemanja Matic failing to replicate last season's performances and Cesc Fabregas also struggling.

And following Ramires' sale to the Chinese Super League earlier this year, with John Obi Mikel also poised to leave Stamford Bridge, Bazoer could be the answer to reinvigorating the club's midfield.

The Dutch star signed a five-year extension on his current deal last year yet it's believed Ajax will entertain interest from potential suitors.

Bazoer's exceptional Eredivisie season, in which he's scored and assisted five and four goals respectively, earned him a call-up to the Netherlands national side late last year, making his senior debut as a substitute against Wales.
