No, it wasn’t a dream. Leicester City really are the new Premier League champions.

The Foxes were crowned champions of England following the ill-tempered 2-2 draw between Chelsea and Tottenham at Stamford Bridge, sparking wild celebrations in Leicester.

Twitter announced last night that Leicester’s remarkable title win triggered a massive 86 per cent increase in normal activity on the social networking website.

‘Leicester City’ alone attracted well in excess of two million tweets following the conclusion of arguably the greatest sporting triumph of all time.

Leicester have upset the biggest odds

One suspects the celebrations will continue throughout the week.

Ranieri’s men will now receive a guard of honour in their remaining two Premier League fixtures against Everton (H) and Chelsea (A).

They will be competing in next season’s Champions League campaign and are apparently the seventh favourites to win the 2016-17 Premier League campaign - at odds of 40/1.

They started this season as 5,000/1 rank outsiders to win the title - but have proved that, in football at least, nothing is impossible.
