Ronaldo is unquestionably one of the greatest footballers of all time.

The retired striker, who scored 62 goals in 98 appearances for Brazil, won a host of team trophies and individual honours during his illustrious 18-year career.

He also played alongside some of the best footballers of the previous generation - but who does the man himself rate as the best?

Ronaldo played alongside the likes of Rivaldo and Ronaldinho with Brazil and household names including Luis Figo, Raul and David Beckham at club level.

However, the man who gets Ronaldo’s vote is, of course, the masterful Zinedine Zidane.

Ronaldo: Zidane is the best I've played with

“He is the best player I've known and best I’ve played with,” Ronaldo told Canal+, per Goal.

Ronaldo also believes his old teammate is doing a fine job in his role as Real Madrid’s head coach.

“He makes Real even more elegant, like his philosophy and his style of play,” the 39-year-old added. “He did a good job and I will be at the Bernabeu to cheer him on Wednesday for the match against Manchester City."

Zidane is one of the greatest players ever

That Ronaldo named Zidane as the best player he’s played with comes as no surprise.

Zidane was a master of his trade, one of the most gifted footballers of all time, and stands alongside the very best - some would argue - in the pantheon of all-time greats.

The French star, whose career ended in disgrace following his infamous red card at the 2006 World Cup final, surely falls into the same category occupied by the likes of Johan Cruyff, Alfredo di Stefano and Ronaldo himself - true greats of the game, but perhaps one rung down from Diego Maradona, Pele and Lionel Messi.

Zidane hoping to become a top coach

Zidane is now focused on becoming one of the best coaches in the game and hopes to end his first season in management with both La Liga and the Champions League.

Real Madrid will progress to the Champions League final on Wednesday night if they defeat Manchester City, while just one point separates them, Atletico Madrid and leaders Barcelona in the race for La Liga with two matches remaining.
