Jurgen Klopp lived every minute of Liverpool’s 3-0 win over Villarreal from the Anfield touchline on Thursday night.
The charismatic German coach was tense and animated throughout the second leg but, once referee Viktor Kassai blew the final whistle, looked overwhelmed with a mixture of relief and joy at full-time.
However, according to The Times’ chief sports writer Matt Dickenson, Klopp dished out one of the “great managerial bo***ckings” to one of his players.

No prizes for guessing who the touchline dressing down was delivered to. Alberto Moreno must give Klopp nightmares at times with his lack of defensive nous - not to mention the club’s fans.
For all of his qualities going forward, the energetic Spanish full-back often finds himself out of position and has been guilty of poor decision-making on numerous occasions since joining the Merseyside outfit in a £12 million move from Sevilla in August 2014.
Indeed, the 23-year-old was fortunate that Kassai didn’t award a penalty after he inexplicably pushed Dennis Suarez inside the box.
Perhaps Klopp’s furious outburst towards Moreno arrived soon after that.
“Klopp's blast at Moreno still ringing in my ears,” Dickenson tweeted. “Sounded like one of the great managerial bollockings - X-rated in any language”.
Moreno delighted after the match
Moreno, however, wasn’t particularly fazed by Klopp’s heated words based on his Instagram post after the match.
“Amazing night!!! 💪🏻💪🏻“ Moreno posted. “Thank you for all the support. Incredible atmosphere in Anfield. 🔴🔴 TOGETHERTOBASEL⚽️⚽️ We are Reds 🔴🔴“
Lawrenson criticised Moreno last week
Moreno was criticised by Liverpool fans and past players, including Mark Lawrenson, after he was caught out of position for Villarreal’s winner last week.
"When the players watch that goal tomorrow, Klopp will be trying to make the point that they have to do their job,” Lawro was quoted as saying by BBC Sport. “If you are a left back, defend. We have a left back who enjoys going forward and he is better going forward than he is defensively."
Carragher has also been critical of Moreno
Jamie Carragher has also been heavily critical of the full-back in the past and said it was vital for Klopp to find a replacement this summer following Liverpool’s defeat to Manchester City in the Capital One Cup final.
“The left-back has to come out of the team,” Carragher was quoted as saying by the Liverpool Echo at the time. “This is not a one-off today in terms of the goal.
“(Jon) Flanagan has come back fit and has to go into the team in midweek, he (Klopp) has to change the left-back.
“Flanagan played left-back when they nearly won the league. He can't be worse than him (Moreno).”
