FIFA 16 TOTS
All deserving of their place, I think you’ll agree.
As with any Team of the Season released by FIFA, though, there are a few surprise exclusions from the starting line-up.
Dele Alli, for example, has enjoyed an outstanding debut campaign at White Hart Lane yet only made the bench, whilst Sergio Aguero was also named but only as a ‘substitute’.
A few ratings will likely be contested by FIFA fans too.
Eric Dier and Danny Drinkwater were given lowly ratings of 74, whilst the latter’s teammate, N'Golo Kante, was awarded a mouth-watering 88.
But perhaps the most ludicrous rating of them all is that of Stoke’s Marco Arnautovic.
The Austrian has arguably been the Potters’ standout player this term, but an 88 rating is a touch excessive given Alli was awarded a mere 85 and the mercurial Dimitri Payet’s upgraded card boasts 90.
From here on out, player ratings become more realistic and in keeping with their spectacular performances throughout the season.
Mesut Ozil is the joint second-highest rated of the entire squad on 94, owing largely to his remarkable 18 Premier League assists thus far. He needs just three more to eclipse Arsenal legend Thierry Henry’s record of 20 in one term.
Elsewhere, Leicester pair Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy were given 93 and 91 ratings respectively for their outstanding contributions to their side’s title success.
Between them they have scored 39 Premier League goals and assisted 18, 11 of which coming from the Algerian half of their partnership.
Tottenham’s Harry Kane was similarly handed a 93-rated upgrade having scored 25 times in the league, whilst Aguero is the highest-rated player with 95.
Something tells me FIFA’s servers are in for long and busy weekend.
