Cristiano Ronaldo scores two delightful goals against Valencia

Not to be outdone by Fernando Torres and Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo got on the scoresheet for Real Madrid as they look to keep pace with Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

Torres and Messi gave their respective sides the lead early on and Madrid, already a point behind both at the start of the day, needed to a goal to ease the tension around the Santiago Bernabeu.

Madrid are in the unfortunate position, however, of needing Barcelona to slip up if they are to win La Liga. And relying on that to happen is never a good thing.

Messi’s wonderful free-kick gave Luis Enrique’s side the lead. Should both Barca and Real win, Zinedine Zidane’s side will trail by a point heading into next week’s final round of games.

As well as La Liga and Champions League success, Ronaldo is eyeing personal glory. He is locked in a battle with Luis Suarez for the Spanish Golden Boot and, though he trails the Uruguayan, the Portugal star will not give up hope.
