Published 4 Comments

Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Benfica midfielder Renato Sanches.

Sanches, who is only 18-years-old, has signed a five-year deal with the Bavarian club and will join them ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

The Mirror, meanwhile, claim that the deal for the talented midfielder is worth as much €35 million, while they also suggest that Manchester United have missed out on his services after being heavily linked with a move for him.

Bayern, then, have acted quickly to complete the deal, but it's safe to say that the transfer has taken the world of football by surprise.

One thing is for sure, Manchester United fans have been left stunned by the transfer. As you can imagine, they are furious that their side have missed out on the defensive midfielder.

Missing out on Sanches appears to be yet another blow for the Red Devils, but it's safe to say that their immediate attention will be on tonight's Premier League clash against West Ham United.

In all honesty, Louis van Gaal's side face three cup finals over the coming two weeks. Three wins would not only deliver FA Cup silverware, but it would also hand them a place in next season's Champions League competition.

Three defeats, on the other hand, would prove a nightmare for the club and would represent failure.

Change may well be imminent at the Theatre of Dreams - it's far from certain as to whether Van Gaal will remain as the club's boss - but it's too early to be thinking about next season just yet.

They may well have missed out on Sanches, but three straight wins will bring back the feel-good factor to the club. They are set for a huge two weeks.
