Roy Hodgson will delay naming the England squad heading to Euro 2016 until Monday in order to take in the final weekend of the Premier League season.

The 23 men charged with leading the Three Lions to glory in France this summer was due to be named at Wembley on Thursday afternoon .

However, England boss Hodgson has decided to switch the announcement until Monday following a meeting with the Football Association and his coaching staff.

The decision has been taken in order to better assess the players' fitness after the final games of the campaign, with questions still lingering over the availability of several players.

The severity of Arsenal forward Danny Welbeck's knee injury has yet to be made public, while club-mate Jack Wilshere has only made two substitute appearances this term.

Everton defender Phil Jagielka been out with a hamstring injury in recent weeks and Liverpool's Jordan Henderson has just returned to outdoor training after a knee ligament injury sustained last month.

Arsenal's Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will miss the tournament with a knee injury and Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw has yet to return from a double leg break sustained in September.
