The New Day should drop the Tag Team titles at Extreme Rules

Published 9 Comments

The New Day have one of the strangest gimmicks we’ve seen from a Tag Team in recent years, yet somehow they have managed to get over with the fans.

Excluding their abilities as athletes, their gimmick could be described as either, funny and engaging, or annoying and repetitive, yet whatever you consider it to be, you cannot deny that they deserve to be the tag-team champions.

However, having won the titles for the first time at Extreme Rules 2015, and then becoming two-time champions at SummerSlam, it would be somewhat fitting to have them drop the titles at the same PPV they first won the titles.

Irrespective of the fitting time, however, and more importantly, The New Day need to drop the titles at Extreme Rules in order to breathe some life into the championships once again.

Whilst the division itself has become more exciting recently, owing to the recent tag tournament to crown the new number one contenders, the titles themselves have become somewhat of an afterthought, as The New Day have not defended the titles many times since their second title win, opting instead to produce funny vignettes and oversee the recent action.

For example, at Payback they did not compete at all, they were spectators at ringside.

On an unrelated issue, the tag team division itself is increasing rapidly with new additions entering the fray such as Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows, Enzo & Cass, and The Vaudevillians, to name a few.

In light of this, an increase in title defences and title changes should be in order if WWE are to create a buzz among WWE fans for the tag team division once again.

Therefore, The New Day should be dropping the titles to The Vaudevillians at Extreme Rules as that would be the best thing that could happen to the tag team division.
