Manchester United are preparing a £25million bid for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane, according to the Mirror.
The Red Devils tried and failed to sign Varane back in 2011 when the then-Lens player opted to join Jose Mourinho at the Bernabeu.
He was widely tipped to become one of the world's best defenders but has since failed to establish himself at the Spanish club.

Zinedine Zidane has preferred a centre-back pairing of Pepe and Sergio Ramos, leaving Varane to pick up the scraps in rotation.
Now 23-years-old, his lack of first-team football is becoming a serious concern and this summer seems an apt time for Varane to consider his future.

And Manchester United are ready to give him food for thought by launching a sizeable offer in Real Madrid's direction. They are in desperate need of defensive reinforcement and can offer him guarantees over playing time.
The move will be made even more attractive if Mourinho takes over from Louis van Gaal. The Special One has been widely tipped to replace the Dutchman in the summer and his relationship with Varane should give United the best possible chance of signing him.
Varane experienced his best spell at Real Madrid under Mourinho, who gave him the chance to develop as a first-team regular when he was still a teenager.
Future of Real Madrid
Zidane has recently poured cold water over suggestions that Real Madrid will sell Varane, describing the France international as the future of the club. He also, however, said it would only be natural if Mourinho tried to take him to his next club, wherever that may be.
"Of course it is normal Mourinho would want to sign Raphael," Zidane told reporters in February. "He knows him well, he brought him here to the club.
"But he is the future of the club."
Manchester United's cause may be further helped by the fact that Varane was reportedly a huge fan of the club as a child and idolised Rio Ferdinand. That, according to the Manchester Evening News, would certainly leave them amongst the frontrunners to sign him if he does become available.
However, the fact that they are likely to miss out on Champions League qualification will put off not only him but a number of other transfer targets.
West Ham's dramatic 3-2 win against the Red Devils left them sitting two points behind fourth-placed Manchester City with just one game remaining in the Premier League.
