Marcus Rashford excites David Beckham

Published 1 Comments

England legend David Beckham has hailed youngster Marcus Rashford, claiming that he plays with the presence of a Manchester United player.

Beckham, 41, enjoyed a fine spell at Old Trafford during his career and has insisted that the Red Devils have 'done alright' this term.

United currently sit in fifth position in the Premier League table and are in danger of missing out on a place in next year's Champions League competition, but they could secure their first trophy in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era if they overcame Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final at Wembley later this month.

It's safe to say that one of the highlights of United's seasons has been the rise of their young players.

Rashford and teammate Anthony Martial have come to prominence and they have certainly impressed former Red Devil Beckham.

Beckham speaks out

Beckham, speaking at the re-opening of the Adidas store on Oxford Street and the launch of the new Manchester United away kit, stated: "I think that the team have done alright this season. At the end of the day, we're going to look at the results at the end of the season. We're in the FA Cup final which is always something that as a United fan and a United player is something we used to enjoy.

"It's exciting to see him (Rashford) because he's young; he comes in, plays with confidence and plays with the presence of a Man United player at such a young age. It's great to actually see young players come in like that.

"And when he's got players like Wayne to look up to, the way he plays, the way he works. And Martial, he's obviously such a young talent as well, he's powerful and he scores goals. Again he's still young, but that's what we need, we need young players at the club."

As mentioned, United haven't exactly had a great campaign, but there's every reason to be excited in the pursuit of long-term success.

Martial and Rashford look set to have huge careers ahead of them and there's no reason why they won't be able to go from strength-to-strength at Old Trafford over the coming years. Both players know where the net is and have the attributes to thrive in Manchester.
