Could the Napoli frontman come to the Premier League? .

Four players Arsenal should target this summer

Published 14 Comments

This summer could see a big squad overhaul for Arsene Wenger and co. at Arsenal, with several older players set to move on and others that are out of favour, also linked with moves away.

The tough task will be replacing those players with ones that can give the Gunners the boost they need to make a real challenge for the title next season.

Wenger's men will look upon this season as a failure after finishing above the likes of Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea, but still not lifting the Premier League trophy.

Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Flamini and Tomas Rosicky will all certainly be leaving the Emirates this summer as their contracts expire, whilst the likes of Mathieu Debuchy, Kieran Gibbs, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all been linked with transfers.

Here we look at four players that could arrive at Arsenal this summer.

Keylor Navas (Real Madrid)

Despite the fantastic season that Petr Cech has had, Arsenal will be wary that he is likely to only have another couple of seasons left in the Premier League. One man they have been linked with is Real Madrid's Navas.

A former Valencia shot stopper, he burst onto the scene during Costa Rica's excellent 2014 World Cup campaign, which then earned him a move to the Bernabeu.

He would be a very good addition to the squad, and would provide healthy competition for Cech, with question marks still over the heads of Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina.

Raphael Varane (Real Madrid)

Real Madrid CF v Real CD Espanyol - La Liga

A second Real Madrid man who could move to London is Raphael Varane.

His long term future at the Bernabeu is in doubt, putting the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs on high alert.

Despite the strong partnership of Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker, Varane is without doubt a more technically gifted defender than the German veteran, and is a star name that would appeal to the fans.

N'Golo Kante (Leicester City)

Leicester City v Everton - Premier League

Following Leicester City's fairy tale success this season, it was inevitable that their stars would be linked with the 'traditional' bigger clubs.

Kante is a midfielder in the mould of Gunners legend Patrick Vieira - strong, tenacious and fearless.

Arsenal have been lacking a top quality defensive midfielder for years, so signing Kante would finally give them that hard-hitting midfielder.

Gonzalo Higuain (Napoli)

This is a transfer that has been rumoured heavily over the past few seasons.

Higuain is one of the hottest strikers in world football, having scored a stunning 33 goals in 34 games this season.

He has averaged a goal every 1.5 games or so over his career, meaning he would be an excellent front-man to lead the Arsenal attack.

Arsenal fans have been calling out for Wenger to sign a new striker for the past few seasons, and with Danny Welbeck set to miss at least nine months of action, this summer could be the ideal time for Wenger to listen to his fans.
