Zidane has taken well to management...

Real Madrid should keep faith with Zinedine Zidane

Published 2 Comments

The race for La Liga is finally over with Barcelona clinching their 24th league title, after successfully beating Granada on the final day, thanks to a Luis Suarez hat-trick.

Real Madrid must be bitterly disappointed after missing out by a single point, but they must be proud of their journey this season.

Madrid enjoyed a horrible first half of the season under Rafa Benitez. Los Blancos were disqualified from the Copa Del Rey after fielding an ineligible player and were thrashed 4-0 by a rampant Barca side on home turf. It was a comedy of errors to say the least.

By the time Benitez left, Madrid's season was written off merely halfway into it. In came Zinedine Zidane and the mood around the Bernabeu lifted to new heights.

Zidane brought Madrid's league campaign back on track and instantly had the players behind him. Key players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema hit the ground running, rediscovering the killer touch they had lacked under Benitez.

Zidane has also not shied away from benching big name players like James Rodriguez and Isco for the benefit of the team as a whole.

Under Zidane, Real Madrid have won an astonishing 17 out of their 20 games in the league this season, coming agonisingly close to snatching the title from their Catalan rivals. Based on those 20 games, Madrid would have accumulated a record 100 points in an entire season.

Apart from the success in the league, Zidane has also proved his worth in the Champions League masterminding wins over AS Roma, Wolfsburg and Manchester City.

He now has Madrid on the cusp of European glory for the 11th time, during a season which was deemed 'disastrous' by many.

Florentino Perez has been known to pull the trigger too soon on his managers, but this time he might benefit from giving Zidane time to build a great dynasty at Real Madrid.
