Who would of thought at the start of the year that we would be saying Liverpool are within touching distance of becoming European Champions - albeit in Europe's second string competition?

The Anfield faithful were clearly disappointed with both the performance and the result, with boos echoing around the stadium that night. So who could of predicted what would of happened next?
Seven months on, a new manager and the same crop of players, Liverpool look a completely different side. A win away from securing a Champions League place and a piece of silverware to go with it.
Within the current Liverpool squad there are minimal winners. Only nine Liverpool players have ever won a major competition in their entire careers, and that needs to change.
If Liverpool do fail to win the Europa League final, it won't be long before critics start putting the dots together and labelling the players bottlers or the nearly boys. The last couple of years have provided Liverpool fans with a lot of heartache and surely the players will have felt it too.
The ever so close title chase that fell to pieces at the last moment, F.A Cup and League Cup semi final defeats in the 14/15 season, and just this season the League Cup final defeat on penalties.
After coming so close so many times, surely it's about time this Liverpool squad won a piece of silverware. It won't be easy, but surely the failure on previous occasions will raise their hunger levels to unknown boundaries and push them on right until the end.
