Dean Ambrose has been involved in various feuds throughout 2016, though has not chased a WWE title since his loss to Triple H at WWE Roadblock earlier this year.
Ambrose had clearly won the match by pinfall, yet the referee claimed that his foot was under the rope, and therefore, the fall did not count.
Subsequently after this, Ambrose engaged in a rivalry with Brock Lesnar, which culminated in a street fight at WrestleMania, together with, his current feud with Chris Jericho that may cease at WWE Extreme Rules.

As a result of this, it is clear that Ambrose’s clear goal should be winning the WWE title, given that he has won both mid-card titles already.
Whilst a Tag Team Championship run might be an interesting route for Ambrose in the future, if introduced now, it would stunt his current momentum.
Considering how popular he is at this point in time, giving him a main event push right now would be perfect. If we consider the possibility that his feud with Chris Jericho might end at Extreme Rules, this would be a perfect opportunity to give Ambrose the push that he deserves.
His character is in a very interesting development process at the moment, with WWE taking his ‘lunatic’ gimmick to the extreme, by introducing a new form of match through the ‘Asylum match’, that he and Jericho will participate in.
His character seems to be a more sadistic and adrenaline fuelled version of Mick Foley’s ‘Cactus Jack’ character. However, this is by no means an imitation, as his promos and general presence appear to be quite unique.
Based on the brutality of the matches Ambrose has been engaged in, as well as, the development of his ‘lunatic fringe’ persona, it seems as though WWE might actually be preparing Ambrose for an upcoming run as WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Considering the fact Seth Rollins is due to make a comeback soon, many spectators have suggested a possible ‘Shield’ reunion, although we may, in fact, see the first showdown between these three men, which could result in an eventual Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship. This is assuming that Roman Reigns successfully defends his title against AJ Styles at Extreme Rules.
Another strong possibility is that Ambrose might enter the Money In The Bank Ladder Match in June, where if he is successful, will gain a title shot here instead.
This would give him a much quicker push than a feud-style storyline would, and may provide an exciting climax if he is successful and able to cash in the title shot.
