Many people see Dean Ambrose as some sort of spiritual successor to the legendary Mick Foley in the modern day WWE.
Ambrose is painted as a madman in his current character, being nicknamed 'The Lunatic Fringe' by commentators and being the WWE's resident slightly deranged yet beloved by fans superstar. As you can guess, he draws a lot of parallels to Foley.
That might be a big reason as to why Foley is a fan of the former deathmatch wrestler and member of The Shield. Taking to his official Facebook page, Foley claimed that Ambrose's WWE career could change for the better this weekend.

Ambrose is taking on Chris Jericho on Sunday at Extreme Rules in the WWE's first ever 'Asylum Match.' According to Foley, this could be his big break.
He said: "Could this AsylumMatch at ExtremeRules be exactly what Dean Ambrose needs?"

"Experience has taught me that a big break is often a series of smaller breaks – like a ball peen hammer tapping away at that glass ceiling everyone talks about…until finally, it shatters."
"Could this match it be another breakthrough for Ambrose? Couldn’t potential he steal the show – a tall task given the chemistry between AJ Styles, and Roman Reigns in their last outing."
Foley is right, the asylum match is a real chance for Ambrose to truly break out and prove that he can be a top star, which the WWE don't see him as right now.
For so long, the WWE have called Ambrose "crazy" without him ever truly justifying the moniker. Now, he's making up matches that can and will inflict pain on himself as well as his opponent, in a nice throwback to the sort of matches he used to take part in before he was in the WWE, when Jon Moxley would go through hell to pick up wins and rise to the top in CZW.
If this asylum match is a success - nobody really knows how it will pan out seeing as it's the first ever - then it could launch Ambrose onto another level, just like the invention of the TLC matches did for The Hardy Boyz, Edge and Christian, and the Dudleys.
Let's hope that 2016 will see the rise of Dean Ambrose from "fan favourite" to WWE World Heavyweight Champion, he'll have at least one WWE legend in his corner if he does.
