The future of Real Madrid midfielder James Rodriguez has been the subject of debate for some time now.
The Colombian international, who arrived at the Bernabeu for a mega fee from Monaco following the 2014 World Cup, has endured a tricky campaign at the Spanish giants.
Injury has taken its toll on Rodriguez, while he has also failed to establish himself as a regular under the guidance of Zinedine Zidane.

In all honesty, he has been in and out of the Real side throughout the course of the campaign.

Rodriguez prefers United
Well, ESPN have reported that sources close to Real Madrid have told them that Zidane likes Rodriguez but there's no place for him in the club's 4-3-3 formation.
But that's not all ESPN have claimed. They have also suggested that Rodriguez would prefer to join one club if he departs the Spanish giants: Manchester United.
The Red Devils may well be without Champions League football for the 2016/17 campaign, but it appears that Rodriguez would be interested in joining them nonetheless.
The 24-year-old would certainly represent a significant coup for United, who will be desperate to make a major impact in the Premier League next season.
Under the guidance of Louis van Gaal, United have gone backwards recently and they must step up in the pursuit of redemption.
The Red Devils can, of course, win the FA Cup on Saturday, but even that may not be enough to save Van Gaal from the axe.
There's every chance that he will depart the club at the end of the campaign, with reports claiming that Portuguese tactician Jose Mourinho will be the man to replace him.
The former Chelsea man has long been linked to the top job in Manchester, but it remains to be seen as to whether Ed Woodward and co. take a gamble on him.
In fact, the same report from ESPN claims that if Mourinho became the club's next manager, then he would want full control of transfers. Perhaps Mourinho could make Rodriguez his big-name signing at Old Trafford.
Changes are once again expected at the Theatre of Dreams this summer and it's clear for all to see that the club must get things right. For too long they have made vital mistakes when making the biggest decisions.
