WWE returns to the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey for their eighth consecutive Extreme Rules event.
This year's pay-per-view boasts a main event between former TNA World Champion AJ Styles and former Shield member Roman Reigns. As well as the rest of their factions facing off in a Texas Tornado Tag Match.
As is traditional with this event every match has been made the subject of a stipulation with the main event being contested under Extreme Rules.
KICK OFF SHOW - BARON CORBIN VS. DOLPH ZIGGLER - NO DISQUALIFICATION
The rivalry between these two has been pretty underwhelming to say the least, neither man was a part of this week's Raw and instead the match was just announced in passing which was slightly harsh considering these two men have the ability to main event any show WWE would present.
Once again they have been relegated to the pre-show which shows how much faith WWE have in them, given that Dolph Ziggler is a former World Champion, the feeling is that he deserves a lot better, but if these two have another stand out match like at Payback then perhaps WWE will think better. Ziggler won the match at last month's event so perhaps Corbin should get the win here.
Lead WWE Writer Raza Kazi: I think it's a great match card, and it says a lot when you have Dolph Ziggler and Baron Corbin battling on the pre-show. The feud, in recent weeks, has lost a little bit of steam but this event could either be the interesting turn we need, or it come to a brutal end. I don't want to see The Lone Wolf losing another pay-per-view match, especially one which could elevate him into a bigger star. I believe Corbin wins.
THE USOS VS. LUKE GALLOWS AND KARL ANDERSON - TEXAS TORNADO TAG MATCH
This match should be interesting, especially with the added stipulation, I think this could be one of the stand out matches of the night. Gallows and Anderson made their intentions clear when they attacked The Usos on their first night with WWE. This has since spiraled into The Club vs The Family and now it could be the difference between Roman retaining his title or losing it to AJ Styles. The Usos have reigned their division for well over a year and it's time for new blood to step forward so I fully believe that Anderson and Gallows will walk out victorious here.
RAZA: I've been openly critical of the way Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows have been booked since they arrived. They should look equal to The Usos but that's how they've been portrayed, and in fact, they continue to be taken out by Roman Reigns alone. This is going to be a big turning point. A win is vital, it's an interesting stipulation as well and I believe they'll get an impressive win, Anderson and Gallows to walk away the winners.
KALISTO (C) VS. RUSEV - UNITED STATES CHAMPIONSHIP
Since Ryback walked out of WWE after last month's Payback event, WWE has been looking for a replacement for this feud. Rusev won the battle royal and has since been a thorn in the side of the small champion. There is no telling if this match will even go ahead yet given that WWE are currently reporting that Kalisto was badly injured after Rusev's attack on Raw. Rusev deserves to win the title back here, Kalisto has been a stale champion and I would eagerly welcome in a Rusev reign.
RAZA: It's great to see the title back on to the main card, and we have Rusev to thank for that. He's back to his destructive ways and this is the Rusev we need, and he's the one that deserves to leave the event as the new champion. Kalisto hasn't been the greatest of champions and I think it's time we need a change. Plus, there plenty more options for Rusev as champion with more intriguing feuds a possibility, I think Rusev takes the title.

DEAN AMBROSE VS. CHRIS JERICHO - ASYLUM MATCH
I am actually excited to find out what an Aslyum match actually entails, whilst TNA have introduced something similar to this, I can see WWE doing something completely different. It is hard to predict a winner here as well given that Jericho lost his $15,000 jacket and Ambrose really needs the win if the feud is to come to an end. Where else could WWE push this feud? They are in Ambrose's house and on his terms so you have to think that The Lunatic will flourish inside the steel.
RAZA: We always knew Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho would compete at this event, but the announcement this week by The Lunatic Fringe certainly made this match a must-watch. You can't really call this one down the middle because both of them have looked strong in this feud, but credit has to go to Jericho as his heel run has remained fresh and entertaining. This Asylum stipulation will look to favor Ambrose, but with Ambrose winning the first encounter at Payback, I believe Jericho takes this one. Drink it in, man.
THE NEW DAY (C) VS. THE VAUDEVILLIANS - TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
The New Day are merely weeks away from making history as the longest reigning tag team with both of their combined reigns. Recently I have enjoyed The Vaudevillians but many backstage reports suggest that Vince isn't a big fan. This leaves me to believe that they will push The New Day towards that history breaking reign and allow them to continue to entertain the way they know how. The New Day to retain.
RAZA: We all knew this match was going to happen, as there were different plans for Enzo Amore and Big Cass and as usual, the New Day have looked fantastic heading into the match. You can argue that they don't need the titles while it would benefit the Vaudevillians, but there are still more options for the New Day as the champions. I don't think this feud will end right away either, but I'm confident in saying The New Day will retain.
THE MIZ (C) VS. SAMI ZAYN VS. KEVIN OWENS VS. CESARO - FATAL FOUR WAY MATCH FOR THE INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP
There is no doubt in my mind that this will be the match of the night! There are so many combustible elements in this match that there is no physical way that this match will not be an outstanding one. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn's feud has engulfed both NXT and the main roster for the past few months and it could continue this weekend. The Miz and Cesaro will add some impressive skill to the match as well but I full expect Sami Zayn to take the title.
RAZA: I think this match comes down to two stars. Kevin Owens is probably going to move on to bigger things in the main event soon so I can't see him becoming a three time champion. While I want Sami Zayn to win, I feel his feud with Owens doesn't need this championship right now. This leaves Cesaro and The Miz. The fans are loving Cesaro right now but personally, The Miz has proven why the WWE trust him so much. He's an incredible heel and draws fantastic heat, he also makes others around him look good. I see The Miz retaining his title.

CHARLOTTE (C) VS. NATALYA - SUBMISSION MATCH FOR THE WWE WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP
I can not express how happy I am that Ric Flair has been banned from ringside and if he does decide to make an appearance then Charlotte will forfeit her title. I think that is exactly what needs to happen and Charlotte can then turn on her father and finally remove him from WWE TV for good. Natalya deserves her chance to stand on the mountain top after so many years of climbing and given that this event will see Charlotte make history by appearing at her 11th consecutive PPV, then WWE should allow another women to stand in the spotlight. Natalya to become Women's Champion.
RAZA: I'm enjoying this feud, especially as Charlotte is looking like a great heel, almost like a female Seth Rollins during the early stages of his WWE World Heavyweight Championship run, somebody who always needs assistance to win. I like the fact that the WWE are giving more women opportunities, it's not just focusing on three women. Saying that, I don't see Natalya winning. For me, the Figure Four will beat the Sharpshooter, Charlotte walks out the champion.
ROMAN REIGNS VS AJ STYLES - EXTREME RULES MATCH FOR THE WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP
The showdown that has been a month in the making will finally see both Roman and AJ go extreme as they fight it out for the biggest prize in WWE. Fans were treated to an incredible Styles Clash on a steel chair on Monday night and that could once again be Roman's fate as all the rules go out of the window until one man is deemed the winner. I would love to say that AJ could in this but my head thinks differently and feels that once again WWE will allow Roman to walk out with the title.
RAZA: I dislike the fact that Reigns was made to look incredibly strong for so long but was still made to look like the underdog in certain weeks. If rumours are to be believed, then perhaps Reigns might not be the top dog for too long. I do think this will be one of the best matches of the night, and we should expect others to also get involved. I see Styles coming close, but Reigns takes the win.
