Incoming Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho wants to bring Atletico Madrid ace Saul Niguez to Old Trafford this summer.
This has been reported by the Daily Mail, who claim that the Red Devils are lining up a £54 million bid for the 21-year-old. Saul has enjoyed a prolific campaign in La Liga and is quickly establishing himself as one of the most exciting players in Spain.
Indeed, his wonderful solo strike in the Champions League semi-final against German giants Bayern Munich only enhanced his reputation in Madrid. It's safe to say, then, that it won't be easy for Mourinho and co. to bring him to Manchester ahead of the 2016/17 campaign.

Mourinho hasn't even been named as Louis van Gaal's successor at Old Trafford yet, but it appears that a deal will be confirmed imminently. Unsurprisingly, the experienced coach, who was dismissed as Chelsea manager back in December, appears to be prepared to make a number of changes in Manchester.
According to the Mail, Saul is one player that Mourinho is hoping to bring to the club in the immediate future.
But will the potential high-profile transfer happen?
Well, the Mail claim that Atlctico are reluctant to lose the player after previously tying him down to a new long-term deal.
But there's hope for United; Saul's £80,000-a-week deal, which runs out in 2021, has a release clause inserted. Indeed, it appears that Atletico wouldn't be able to stop the exciting forward joining United for £54m.
It's likely that the United hierarchy will be paying close attention to this weekend's Champions League final when Atletico take on rivals Real Madrid. Saul, who has played a prominent role during Atletico's fine European run, will be desperate to make an impact.
All change at United
By all accounts, Mourinho is set to make a number of changes at Old Trafford this summer. It's not exactly surprising, however, after the club failed to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League last season.
They will enter the 2016/17 campaign without the prospect of Champions League football, but there's no reason why the club won't be able to attract the biggest names in world football. The combination of Mourinho and Manchester United will excite many top players.
