Japanese sensation Hideo Itami was brought down to earth back in early 2015 when he was one of many WWE superstars who joined their injury list.
Hideo joined the likes of Seth Rollins, Randy Orton and Cesaro on the treatment table after he suffered a shocking shoulder injury. Itami was considered to be one of the greatest wrestlers in the world when he signed for WWE back in 2014 and the injury has kept him out of action for more than 13 months and even cost him an NXT Championship opportunity.
It is now being reported that Itami could make his return within the next few weeks with many suggesting that it could be as early as next weekend's NXT Takeover: The End.

Itami was injured at the worst possible time for him because WWE had plans for him to travel to Japan and be a part of The Beast in the East event and even come away from it with the NXT Championship.
The company thought that giving him the NXT Championship in his native Japan would be the perfect option for them, but sadly Hideo went down with the injury merely days before his triple threat match with Tyler Breeze and Finn Balor that would have seen him walk out victorious.
WWE then planned out an attack that saw Kevin Owens in the vicinity and went ahead with the match without Itami and instead allowed Balor to become the number one contender. Itami was in the audience for the win and many thought this would open up a story line.

LONG AWAITED RETURN?
Hideo looks set to make his WWE return in the next few weeks and could return as early as NXT Takeover on June 8th. The likelihood is that Itami will be called up to the main roster so that he will be with many of the superstars who were on NXT back in 2015.
Itami will have a short run on NXT when he makes his return and given that Finn Balor was set to be the star revealed as the one who attacked him and caused the long time injury layout, Itami could be the superstar who finally turns Finn heel.
There are many different scenarios that WWE could play out here and it makes NXT exciting going forward, especially after Triple H's cryptic tweet about NXT Takeover, The End...Where do they go from here?
