Manchester United have officially appointed Jose Mourinho as their new manager and it's safe to say that fans of the Red Devils are overjoyed by the news.

The self-proclaimed 'Special One' will take charge of the Red Devils for the 2016/17 campaign and will lead the club into yet another new era.

Mourinho is the third man to be appointed as the club's manager since legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson retired from the game back in 2013.

While United fans are loving the news that Mourinho is now theirs, Chelsea fans will surely be feeling rather dejected.

Mourinho, of course, was dismissed as Chelsea boss back in December after enduring a disastrous opening half to the campaign at Stamford Bridge.

Despite his - and the club's - struggles last term, the majority of Blues fans were desperate to see the Portuguese tactician come out the other side. Ultimately, though, that did not happen and he is now a Red Devil.

Chelsea, on the other hand, will head into the new campaign with current Italy manager Antonio Conte, but that's not going to soften the blow when they see Mourinho hog the Old Trafford touchline.

Anyway, Chelsea took to Twitter for the first time on Friday morning following United's Mourinho announcement.

Chelsea tweet

The club's official account sent a simple tweet of: 'Good morning'.

As you can imagine, the reaction to Chelsea's tweet was truly brilliant (fans of the club will probably beg to differ)...

First thing's first, here's the tweet Chelsea sent:

And here's how Twitter reacted:

It's safe to say that Mourinho is excited to begin his Old Trafford journey. After being named as the club's new manager, he told the club's official site that it's a special honour for him to be at the Theatre of Dreams.

"To become Manchester United manager is a special honour in the game. It is a club known and admired throughout the world. There is a mystique and a romance about it which no other club can match.

"I have always felt an affinity with Old Trafford; it has hosted some important memories for me in my career and I have always enjoyed a rapport with the United fans. I’m looking forward to being their manager and enjoying their magnificent support in the coming years."
