Three players who could benefit from Jose Mourinho appointment

Published 2 Comments

Manchester United have finally officially announced Jose Mourinho as their new permanent manager, after the Portuguese put pen to paper on a three-year deal.

It was classed as football's worst kept secret, but it's finally been confirmed and finalised, which now makes us wonder what sort of changes will Mourinho make at Old Trafford.

Who will he sign? Who will he sell? One thing's for sure, this summer is going to be exciting and busy for United, but Mourinho could also have an impact on players that are already at the club.

Here are three players who could benefit from the Portuguese's appointment.

Memphis Depay

The tricky winger will be at United next season, but questions will be asked about the Holland international during pre-season.

Depay didn't endure the season he'd hoped for after arriving from PSV Eindhoven, only managing eight goals in all competitions.

Mourinho will be keen to keep the winger and potentially could transform him like he did to Arjen Robben during his first year at Chelsea.

Depay recently went on record saying he has no point to prove next season, but it's fair to say eight goals in 31 games won't be acceptable under Mourinho!

Paddy McNair

Since breaking onto the scene in 2014, McNair's United career has stumbled.

McNair is currently on international duty in preparation for Euro 2016, and a solid outing in France next month could put the defender in Jose Mourinho's plans.

McNair only made four starts this season, with better options available, but despite this, Mourinho may want to keep him as a fringe player next season.

Adnan Januzaj

Very much the forgotten man over the last two seasons at Old Trafford, Januzaj clearly wasn't rated by Louis van Gaal.

Back in 2013, there was a lot of talk surrounding him being the next Ryan Giggs, and he backed up these claims with promising displays under David Moyes.

However, since Moyes left United in 2014, Januzaj's game-time has been limited. Playing just over 20 times in two years, even a loan move to Borussia Dortmund couldn't ignite his career.

Mourinho loves a good winger, and Januzaj could provide a bit of flair to his attack.
