Gerard Pique made headlines earlier this month after he appeared to imitate Cristiano Ronaldo’s ‘calma’ celebration during Barcelona’s open-top bus parade.
The Spanish centre-back, never one to miss an opportunity to mock Real Madrid, made his teammates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez burst out laughing by flapping his hand theatrically.
Asked about the incident a few days later, Pique admitted it might have happened but insisted he “couldn’t remember”. It did happen, Gerard, there’s video evidence to prove it.

Ahead of this weekend’s Champions League final, Ronaldo sat down with Spanish journalist Josep Pederol and gave a wide-ranging interview.
The three-time Ballon d’Or winner was asked about the incident but, rather than perceiving it as something negative, he actually sees it as a positive.

“Even when others are celebrating, they remember Cristiano Ronaldo,” the Portuguese superstar was quoted as saying by 101 Great Goals. “Whether it’s good or not, let them talk about Cris.”
Ronaldo pointed to his head at the same time, indicating that he believes he’s in the Barcelona players’ heads, even when they’re supposed to be celebrating a trophy.
Based on Pique’s actions, he might have a point.
Pique is usually respectful of Cristiano
It was a little surprising to see Pique mocking Ronaldo. He’s always been very respectful of his former Manchester United teammate in interviews and, just recently, described him as the best player in the world - behind Messi, of course.
"I think that they are both amazing," Pique was quoted as saying by ESPN when discussing Ronaldo and Messi. "We are talking about two of the best players, not just in the world but the history of this sport.
"I always said that Messi has some talent that no one has. I mean, he has the ball and his speed controlling the ball. The ball doesn't go two metres far from his foot, it's always there. It's impossible to catch him, this talent I didn't see from anyone.
"Cristiano Ronaldo is such a different player, they are very different. He is tall, strong, he's really complete. He can do anything. He can do goals with the head, free-kicks, penalties, take one on one.
"But for me it's like Messi is not human but Cristiano is the best of the humans."
