Could the veteran midfielder leave after seven seasons? .

Carlo Ancelotti could be prepared to axe Bayern Munich trio

Published 2 Comments

Bayern Munich look set for a busy summer as Carlo Ancelotti takes the reins from Manchester City-bound Pep Guardiola.

They have already strengthened their squad with two quality additions, Mats Hummels from rivals Borussia Dortmund and wonderkid Renato Sanches from Benfica

Additions aren't the only thing expected this summer, however, as departures could take place as well.

Who could be on their way out of the Allianz Arena? With competition for places so strong, some players may look to move on to get first team football.

There is also the likelihood of older players leaving for one last challenge elsewhere or to return home.

Here we look at three players who could leave Munich this summer:

Arjen Robben (Winger, 32)

One of the older players in an otherwise fairly young Bayern squad, Robben could be on the move this summer.

The Dutchman has made over 140 appearances since his move from Real Madrid in 2009, scoring a solid 77 goals.

There is no denying that on his day, Bayern's no.10 is a quality player, unfortunately though, age and subsequently injuries are catching up with him.

Could he make a successful return to his native Netherlands, similar to Dirk Kuyt? Or maybe a move to join the exodus in China?

Whatever team he is at, they will benefit hugely from Robben's experience and knowledge, as he has been managed by the likes of Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.

Holger Badstuber (Centre-back, 27)

Badstuber has seen his game time decrease over the past four seasons, making only seven league appearances in 2015-16.

With Jerome Boateng, Dante, Mehdi Benatia and now Hummels all ahead of him in the pecking order, maybe a move away is what the centre back needs to revive his career.

He's made over 110 appearances for the Bavarians, but his time may be up with better players now at the club.

Thiago (Centre-midfield, 24)

Thiago rose through Barcelona's 'La Masia' academy, making over 60 appearances before his move to Germany.

He has made around 50 appearances since then, but has struggled to nail down a starting place as he's competing with Xabi Alonso, Arturo Vidal, Phillip Lahm and young star Sebastian Rode.

The Premier League seems a likely destination, with both Manchester clubs interested as well as Liverpool and Chelsea.

Maybe a move back to Spain could be the answer - all will be revealed this summer.

Of course there may very well be different players exiting the club as well as these three, or maybe instead of them, but looking at competition for places, and in Robben's case, serious concerns over fitness, this trio look like the most likely to leave.
