Anticipation is building towards one of the most exciting pay-per-views on the WWE calendar, Money in the Bank takes place on June 19 where six men will be looking to leave with the golden briefcase and all but secure themselves a run as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
As of this writing, five men have already qualified for the match including the likes of Kevin Owens and Dean Ambrose, as fans are waiting to see who the sixth and final member will be.
ADDS NO VALUE TO THE MATCH
Regardless of who walks into the event in Nevada, I believe Alberto Del Rio is the superstar that shouldn’t leave with the briefcase as he doesn’t deserve another glorious opportunity.

I believe that Del Rio will no longer be somebody who can add value to this match, especially this year, considering the level of talent included in this match. When you look at each star, what they bring to the match and what they’ve achieved in the run-in to the event, Del Rio is at the bottom of the pile.
Del Rio’s best days were at the early stage of his WWE run, with rich Mexican aristocrat with the flashy cars and the personal ring announcer, that’s when Del Rio looked and acted like a marketable star, and it’s why he was handed the briefcase at that point.

Since coming back last year, he hasn’t made the same impact as he did when he first arrived. Not only that, rumoured backstage heat with Triple H suggests he won’t receive another run at the top. If that’s the case, then why is he taking up a spot in this match if there’s no indication that he’ll win it?
Del Rio hasn’t done anything note as of late to suggest that the WWE will show enough faith in him to capture the briefcase. If we dissect each superstar involved in the match, it’s clear that their spot in the match is warranted.
Del Rio is somebody who has been floating around the card doing next to nothing, the biggest positives to come from his return is that he dethroned John Cena to trigger an underwhelming run as United States Champion, and playing his role in the slightly entertaining League of Nations.
Other than that, Del Rio hasn’t been the name on our lips, the only reason he’s been in the news lately is that he’s rumoured to be dating Paige. He’s done very little to suggest he deserves to be in the match, let alone win it.
TAKING UP A VALUABLE SPOT
I doubt I’m alone when I say there are others on the roster that could prove to be an even bigger asset in this match, Del Rio’s addition is a waste to this match when somebody else deserved it more.
Fans would have hoped that somebody like Zack Ryder could have taken this glorious opportunity – although he wouldn’t win – it shows that we are in a new era with a wider variety of stars may receive opportunities they wouldn’t have received before.
It also remains to be seen what AJ Styles is doing at the event; he’s one who could have been a huge addition to the match with his unique style, along with the fact that he’s been a huge roll recently, he deserves to be in there more than Del Rio.
DOESN’T ADD VALUE TO THE BRIEFCASE OR THE TITLE
It’s simple, Del Rio won’t add any value to the briefcase, and even less to the championship, should he win and successfully cash-in. Looking back at previous winners, they’ve added a lot of intrigue and gauged a lot of interest in the briefcase from the fans.
Guys like CM Punk, Edge and Seth Rollins will go down as highly successful winners as they made the briefcase mean something, while Damien Sandow can also fall under that category because of the unique briefcase he created – despite failing to cash-in.
With Del Rio, I feel it’ll be too similar to last year when Sheamus was the winner. Fans weren’t happy with the win; it felt stale, and we were hoping to get the cash-in over and done with. Look where Sheamus ended up after cashing in, Del Rio will fare much worse, and there will be very little support behind him.
OTHERS DESERVE IT MORE
This is the key aspect of it all, as I mentioned, there are guys in this match that have had an incredible year and after so much hard work, they’re breaking through to receive this opportunity.
Owens is somebody who has had a brilliant year, and there’s a reason why he’s the favourite to win this match, he’s had incredible matches, he’s remained relevant from day one and fans are entertained by him and what he has to offer. Along with this, a feud with Sami Zayn over the briefcase could be something fans enjoy in the long run.
Cesaro is another that deserves a shot; there are some not even in the match who deserve to stake their claim, such as Bray Wyatt, as a win could genuinely help their careers, with Del Rio that’s simply not the case.
The WWE need to learn from the mistake they made last year; they need to avoid taking the step backwards as Del Rio shouldn’t even be in this match, so he needs to be kept far away from the briefcase.
