Jose Mourinho has been the Manchester United manager for less than a week, but he has already been linked with a whole host of big name signings.

One player, in particular, has stood out more than most over the course of the last five days or so.

That man is Zlatan Ibrahimovic; the enigmatic striker is one of the leading forwards in world football and has duly been linked with a move to Old Trafford recently.

The 34-year-old will be available on a free transfer and, despite approaching the final stages of his career, would represent a significant coup for the Red Devils.

That's because he's still comfortably one of the best strikers in Europe. Indeed, Ibrahimovic struck a cool 38 goals in Ligue 1 last term - 17 more than any other player.

Zlatan to Old Trafford

It was only last week that Ibrahimovic was asked about the possibility of being reunited with Mourinho, but he failed to give a full indication of his plans.

He did pay tribute to the Portuguese tactician, though, insisting that he will be a success at his new club.

Today, then, was the turn of Mourinho to react to the rumours. As per The Guardian, Mourinho, speaking in Lisbon, where he was giving a lesson to post-graduates on football coaching, failed to truly give an answer when discussing a possible move for Ibrahimovic, instead slightly changing the subject.

When asked whether Ibrahimovic could join him at Old Trafford, Mourinho said with a smile: “My good friends always rave about me."

Signings from Portugal

Sorry, United fans - Mourinho isn't giving anything away at this stage. The new United boss did, however, reveal that he will not be signing anyone from Portugal.

He continued by saying: “No, I will definitely not take anyone [from Portugal] to Old Trafford.”

It's safe to say that this summer could represent another one of change at United. The addition of Mourinho has already changed everything at the club, but things really could get going over the coming weeks and months.

Ultimately, the dynamic of the United squad will change once again ahead of the 2016/17 campaign. Mourinho will no doubt make a number of additions to his squad, while certain players may have to move on.

It was only this morning that Sky Sports reported that Mourinho would be willing to offload Juan Mata and Daley Blind. Mata was previously axed by Mourinho while he was in charge of Chelsea, while Blind isn't exactly the type of player the new United boss usually utilises in his teams.
