Earlier this week, WWE announced that Goldberg would be the bonus for those that pre-order the upcoming video game WWE 2K17 before it is released later this year.
The announcement was revealed on Monday Night Raw during a trailer for the game, where Bill Goldberg emerged from a barn, and he was escorted away by policemen and placed in the back of a police car. The car then drove past a sign seen in the car window which said 'Suplex City', to which Goldberg smiled at.
The former WCW Champion now joins The Ultimate Warrior, Sting, and Arnold Schwarzenegger that have received the pre-order bonus honor in the past for WWE 2K14, 2K15, and 2K16 respectively.

He said: “It’s an honor that’s hard to put in words really. All you gotta do is mention the names that came before me, and to know that I’m in the same sentence as those guys, let alone following in their footsteps with this game, it’s a huge honor and not one to be taken lightly.”

The WWE 2K video game allows players to create their own dream match-ups that might not be possible in the company's environment today. Goldberg was asked what his dream match up for him personally would be.
He said: “People talked about it for years – Me and Steve Austin, and ‘Taker. There are a lot of potential opponents people never got to see me wrestle, so to be able to do that in 2K17, that’s pretty cool.”
While many fans will get excited by the prospect of Goldberg returning to the WWE because of this recent announcement, it must be made clear that the wrestler has signed a deal with 2K Sports, not the WWE.
However, it is worth noting that 2K Sports couldn't include Goldberg in the game nor sign him to a deal without Vince McMahon's approval. Take that as you may, but some fans will see that as a positive relationship between the two parties, meaning a return is still on the cards. There is a slither of hope.
As for a possible opponent if he was to return, it has to be no one other than Brock Lesnar. It has already been teased in the trailer with the 'Suplex City' sign, and it would be a way to pay back the fans as well after he left the company in a bad way against The Beast Incarnate at WrestleMania 20 back in March 2004 and make things right.
