Former WWE World Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist Kurt Angle has recently appeared back on WWE's radar thanks to some comments made on Social Media about wrestling finally finding it's identity.

He went on to talk about "Let's make wrestling great again" much like WWE are currently running the "lets make Darren Young great again" story line, which has left fans wondering if there is a link.

Given that WWE are once again set to split their roster into two brands again in merely six weeks time, now would be a perfect time for someone of Kurt Angle's pedigree to arrive and be the main stay on Smackdown.

TEAM ANGLE RERUN?

Kurt Angle has been rumored to be returning to WWE so many times now that many fans are convinced that he will never walk through the curtain again. Last time the WWE Universe were speculating that he could be the one to finally end Rusev's undefeated streak.

Angle is facing Cody Rhodes at Wrestling Under the Stars in August and is currently not tied to any other contracts, which means that WWE could easily convince him to return to help push their newly designed Smackdown brand.

Angle has recently talked about how well Jason Jordan and Clark Gable would fit into a Team Angle scenario, given the fact that they are already called American Alpha. Angle could join up with the current NXT Tag Team Champions as a way for them to finally make their main roster debut.

SMACKDOWN CHAMPION?

Kurt Angle was one of the main stars on Smackdown before the first brand split was ended back in 2011. He was a champion throughout most of his time on their and was most prolific between 2004 and 2006.

It would make sense if WWE had decided that he could be the man to lead Smackdown into this new era with it's new brand split. Angle would be an experienced superstar in the locker room who could help give new talent advice and he would be a welcome member of the roster for the WWE Universe.

Vince McMahon was apparently against bringing Angle back because of his substance abuse problems in recent years but it has been reported that Angle has been clean now for many years and would relish the change to be a part of WWE TV again.
